The Library 2.0 Working Group is looking for volunteers!
We're excited about investigating so many great options to make our lives more fun and interesting that our list is too long for us to do alone. Are you interested in tagging, wikis and blogs, Second Life, integrating the Libraries into other web applications, working the Library ever-further into Facebook, games, or any other Web 2.0 style projects?
Let us know or better yet, sign up to help!
We've already chosen some of our favorite projects to investigate further:
· Tagging: for the catalog to make the catalog more useful for patrons and more fun for us
· Wikis and Blogs: for documentation, interaction, and news
· Second Life: to learn more about virtual worlds by working in one
· Integration overall: better connecting the library to other services, like WebCT/E-Learning and faculty databases like Community of Science or VIVO
· Toolbar Integration: for searching the catalog or other library resources
· Facebook: connecting to patrons, faculty, and each other while offering useful services
· Sustainable Resources: creating documentation on the best new technologies to use and establishing communication lines for sharing information on them
Let us know if you want to sign up for any of these projects, or if you'd like to suggest and (or) volunteer for another? We're looking forward to working hard to make work easier and more fun!
Please see our notes on our wiki, http://uflibrary.pbwiki.com/, or contact me with any questions.
