Brainstorm/Ideas/Agenda
- Who within the libraries is already providing library services via a course management software?
- What kinds of things are other university libraries doing?
- What kind of assistance can the UF Libraries provide to liaisons wishing to integrate into a CMS offered course?
Notes from First Meeting [Friday 9/28/07 1:30 p.m.]
Stacey Ewing, Sara Russell Gonzalez, Elizabeth Outler, and Hank Young were present.
We discussed the following as possible goals to pursue:
- Provide a help page (or something) for professors/instructors to give them instructions to add library links/resources to their web courses
- Talk to Paul Victor and Jana Ronan about the web-based library instruction courseware they have developed pursuant to their mini-grant
- work with Academic Technologies/CITT to create library modules (or something) that can professors can incorporate into their web-courses (in webCT)
- find out if any Libraries liaisons are already working with professors in their areas to put library resources in their web courses
- use webCT (but maybe Moodle is more appropriate) to design and deliver training internally within the Libraries
- HR training
- new hire training
- new software or new upgrades training
Follow up for next meeting:
- Elizabeth will report about our discussions to the Library 2.0 Working Group at the meeting on 10/4
- Stacey will talk to Paul Victor about his project and ask him to come to our next meeting to show it to us and discuss
- Elizabeth will contact Academic Technologies to discuss possibilities for creating library modules
- We'll need to talk to Trudi diTrolio (or someone in HR) about the possibilities for using course management software for internal library training
We will meet again in approximately two weeks.
