Comics mini-grant, then extend with this.

Purpose is to show history of comics and serials for how illustrated forms operate in children's and adult lit while questioning the borders between the two.

Like DailyLit.com, set this up with GatorTimes to go to students 1x per week to give them a sense of serial lit.

Cite "The Plot" and the side by side comparison of the plot versions with Eisner commentary for how layout matters (and general sequential art, panelology with the layout as the point).

Include in budget a request for programmer to create a 2 page layout mode.

Other options for the ChLA grant are:

  • Digitizing books from Bader's book. Mention Egolf and how he collected and how those books remain important and rare, so need to digitize each.
  • Digitizing little big books for use, or another section of the comics collection.
  • Digitizing all of a particular theme or name (like all Alice or all Cinderella) to use in a course and publication on how the work changes with illustrators.
  • Golden books?
